In this context, the authorities of Germany, Denmark and Sweden said in a joint statement that “we are going to form a joint investigation team to investigate the accidents on the Nord Stream gas pipeline in accordance with European laws”, and the Russian mission to the United States of Nations said that Russia supports a comprehensive investigation into the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines, and an international investigation is legitimate only with the participation of Russia, stating that “The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office has launched a preliminary investigation into the gas leak from Nord Stream. ”
The company operating the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline reported an accident on the gas pipeline in Danish waters near the island of Bornholm, indicating the creation of a safe zone with a radius of five nautical miles.
Authorities in Sweden and Denmark said they discovered a gas leak due to two underwater explosions, while they concluded that the accident was the result of sabotage.
