The Iranian judicial authorities announced this Friday that some of those sentenced to death for participating in demonstrations against the regime that have been going on since the end of September will be executed soon.

According to the Shargh daily, the sentences will be “carried out shortly,” Ejei said during a speech to members of the High Council of the Magistracy.

At least six people have already been sentenced to death. for participating in the protests that have been taking place in the country since September 16, after the death of the young Mahsa Amini for not wearing the Islamic headscarf.

The six protesters were accused of “war against God” as well as having “corrupted the land”, concepts that fall under offenses against Islam and public security in Iran.

judicial authorities accused more than two thousand people of various crimes for participating in the protests against the maintenance of the Islamic Republic.

At least 21 people could be sentenced to death for participating in the demonstrations.

Ejei also said that “several rioters” were sentenced to prison terms, without specifying the length of the sentence.

Among those sentenced to prison terms is photojournalist Ahmadreza Halabisaz, who said he was sentenced to five years in prison.

The court that sentenced Halabisaz did not authorize the defendant to have access to defense attorneys????????

In almost three months of protests, more than 400 people have been killed and at least 15,000 protesters have been arrested, according to the Norway-based non-governmental organization Iran Human Rights.

The strong police repression and the actions of the judiciary did not prevent calls from being made for the next three days.

On Saturday, the attorney general, Mohamed Jafar Montazeri, told the INSA news agency that the morality police “has been eliminated.”

The US news agency Associated Press (AP) could not confirm the current status of this police force, created in 2005, whose function is stop and question people who violate the islamic dress code????????

Since September, various reports indicate a reduction in the number of moral police officers in Iranian cities and an increase in the number of veiled women in public spaces, contrary to the law.

Attorney General Montazeri did not provide further details about the future of the morality police, nor whether the extinction of the body is applicable nationally and permanently????????

However, Montazeri added, the Iranian justice system “will continue to scrutinize behavior at the community level.”

On Friday, the ISNA agency reproduced Montazeri’s statements in which he assured that the Government was reviewing the mandatory law on the use of the hijab for women.

“We are working quickly on the hijab issue and doing everything we can to ensure a sensible solution to address this phenomenon that breaks everyone’s heart,” Montazeri said, without elaborating.
