The Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev, confirmed that the downing of an American drone in the Black Sea near Russian waters proves Washington’s direct involvement in Kiev’s aggressive behavior.
Patrushev told the “Russia-1” television channel that Washington has always emphasized that it is not a party to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
The Russian Ministry of Defense, on the other hand, announced that an American MQ-9 unmanned aerial vehicle, advancing towards the Crimean airspace in the Black Sea, lost altitude and flew to intercept two Russian warplanes and it was not dropped.
In a statement, the ministry added that on the morning of March 14, an American MQ-9 unmanned aerial vehicle was spotted heading into the airspace of Russia’s Crimean peninsula.
He said that the UAV does not operate identification devices that violate the no-fly zone declared by the Russian Ministry of Defense in the Black Sea, and that all international airspace users have been informed about this in accordance with international standard.
He confirmed that two Russian fighters were flying to identify the plane in the said exclusion zone.
The ministry said that as a result of a sharp maneuver around 9.30 Moscow time, the MQ-9 lost altitude and fell into the water.
And he stressed that the two Russian fighters were not shocked by the American march, did not use their ammunition and returned safely to their bases.
