A Russian service document obtained by a media consortium outlines goals for bringing Moldova, a former Soviet republic, into Russia’s sphere of influence.

Russia has devised a secret plan to destabilize Moldova, which aims to make Moldovan politicians and society negative towards NATO and maintain a strong presence of pro-Russian influence groups in the country’s political and economic sectors.
The document, titled “Strategic Objectives of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Moldova”, was obtained and disseminated by a media consortium including Kyiv Independent, Delfi Meedia, Expressen, Dossier Center, Rise Moldova, Frontstory and VSquare. CNN International later also had access to the document.
