A former teacher at an all-girls college has been charged with discriminating against female students’ gender identity after saying “Good afternoon, girls” at the start of a class.
A teacher in the UK said on Friday she felt humiliated after being forced to apologize to her female students at an all-girls private school after treating them like ‘girls’. The school did not renew the contract with the teacher.
The teacher explained that issues around gender identity started in may 2021. The student complaints came a week after they were shown a video about gender identity and gender assignments at birth.
Professor of Philosophy and Religious Education had to apologize after saying “good afternoon girls” at the beginning of a class. The students said that not everyone in the class identified as female, and one even challenged the teacher to recognize her pronouns. The day after the incident, the students they wrote all their names and pronouns with which they wanted to be called on the blackboard in the room. One of the students used the pronoun “they”.
The students held a protest during lunchtime after the teacher refused to accommodate the students’ request, in addition to stating that she would have to involve the parents in the situation. if a student’s pronoun was different from their biological gender.

The teacher was forced to stand by the seventh-year headmistress as she addressed the students, saying that no one at the school meant to offend them. “I apologize for being upset,” the person in charge said. “No one here wanted to hurt you. They are all loved by us.”
The teacher believes she has suffered retaliation from school board members who did not renew her one-year contract. The all-girls school is part of a group of educational institutions run by the Girls’ Day School Fund.
