Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa delivers the Grand Cross of the Order of the Infante D. Henrique to the head of government of Macao

The chief executive of Macao received the Grand Cross of the Order of the Infante D. Henrique from the President of the Republic. Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa wished Ho Iat Seng congratulations on his mandate.

The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, granted the Head of Government of Macao, Ho Iat Seng, the Grand Cross of the Order of the Infante D. Henrique and wished him to be re-elected next year.

Marcelo handed over to the Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) a symbol of the Order that he intends to distinguish “any person who has provided relevant services to Portugal, in the country and abroadas well as services for the expansion of Portuguese culture or to get to know Portugal, its history and its values”.

Ho Iat Seng thanked the Portuguese president and stressed, in the greeting moments that preceded the meeting, after which there were no statements to the press, that this was his first visit abroad after the pandemic and, although there were many proposals, “I It had to be Portugal.”

It was at that moment that Marcelo congratulated the head of the Government of Macao for the position he holds and wanted him to be re-elected in 2024.

The head of the Macao Executive is visiting Portugal until Saturday and was received this afternoon by the Portuguese head of state at the Belém Palace, where he traveled accompanied by the Secretary of Economy and Finance, Lei Wai Nong, and the secretary of Transport and Public Works, Raimundo do Rosário.

Afterwards, Ho Iat Seng and his entourage met with the Prime Minister, António Costa, and his agenda for this Thursday also includes a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, João Gomes Cravinho.

Accompanying Ho Iat Seng on his first trip abroad after the Covid-19 pandemic is a delegation of 50 local businessmen, led by the Secretary of Economy and Finance, who will visit several companies in Portugal.
