There are 25 startups that will represent Portugal at the Rio de Janeiro Web Summit

The Portuguese delegation will be made up of names like BlockBee, Blue Insight Technologies and Deeploy.me. The 25 startups work in areas such as artificial intelligence, education, sports or lifestyle.

Portugal will be represented by 25 startups, linked to areas such as software, education or artificial intelligence, at the Web Summit Rio de Janeiro, which takes place between May 1 and 4.

The sister event of the Web Summit, which has its first edition in Rio de Janeiro, from May 1 to 4, will be attended by the Portuguese delegation, accompanied by Startup Portugalwithin the scope of the Business Abroad initiative, which welcomes 14 of these startups that participate in the conference,” the Startup Portugal organization said in a statement on Friday.

Thus, the Portuguese delegation will be made up of BlockBee, Blue Insight Technologies, Deeploy.me, Dizconto, Online, Frontfiles, Go Beesiness, Hoopers, IDE Social Hub, Infinite Foundry, ITERCARE, Knok Healthcare, LEADZAI, Mentorise, Modatta and Move. This group also includes My Data Manager, MyCareforce, ndBIM, Neroes, Sensei, SheerME, Swood, Vawlt Technologies, and Wallstreeters.

These companies work in areas such as artificial intelligence, education, sports, lifestyle, software and fintech (technology applied to financial services). Of the total, 14 of these companies participate in the conference within the framework of Startup Portugal’s Business Abroad program, which has already supported more than 200 startups, while the rest are present in collaboration with the Lisbon City Council/ Unicorn Factory or are registered independently.

On May 1, the first day of the event, the Portuguese delegation will meet with stakeholders (concerned parties) locationswith several sessions scheduled on legal and tax processes and business opportunities.

According to the same note, this session will be attended by the Secretary of State for Internationalization, Bernardo Ivo Cruz, the Ambassador of Portugal in Brazil, Luís Faro Ramos, the Consul General of Portugal in Rio de Janeiro, Gabriela Soares, the Secretary of Economy, Development and Innovation of Rio de Janeiro, Francisco Bulhões, the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Pais, the president of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Rio de Janeiro, António Fiúza, the executive director of Startup Portugal, António Dias Martins, as well as the municipal director of the Municipal Directorate of Economy and Innovation of the Lisbon City Council, Margarida Figueiredo.

In January, Startup Portugal signed a memorandum of understanding with the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Rio de Janeiro for the expansion of Portuguese startups in the Brazilian market. Startup Portugal aims to develop activities of public interest to promote entrepreneurship, relying on public and private funds, such as those of IAPMEI – Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation or the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).
