According to the Saudi authorities, this is the largest evacuation operation since the start of the conflict in Sudan on April 15. At stake are 20 Saudi citizens and 1,846 people from some 50 countries.

Saudi authorities estimate that 4,879 people have left the country using the mechanisms offered by Riyadh, including 139 Saudi nationals and 4,738 people from 96 different countries.

The two parties involved in the conflict began a 72-hour truce on Friday brokered by the United States of America and Saudi Arabia to facilitate the evacuation of foreigners in Sudan and open safe corridors for the entry of humanitarian aid.

In recent days, despite the announcement of truces, there have been low-intensity fighting.
