Russia says it prevented Ukrainian attempt to land in Crimea
The Russian Defense Ministry claimed this Sunday to have destroyed military ships with Ukrainian soldiers on board, preventing an attempted landing on the Crimean peninsula, annexed by Moscow in 2014.
The Russian planes destroyed “three high-speed military vessels made in the United States (…) with landing groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which were heading towards the coast of Crimea,” reads a note published on the messaging platform. Telegram.
According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the ships were destroyed near Zmiinyi, known as Snake Island, which was occupied at the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine but from which Russia withdrew in June 2022.
Last week, Russia said it had destroyed four military speedboats in the Black Sea with Ukrainian soldiers on board, heading towards Cape Tarkhankut, located in the west of the Crimean peninsula.
On August 30, the Russian Defense Ministry said it had destroyed four military ships from kyiv carrying a total of up to 50 special forces members, without providing further information.
On August 24, Ukraine announced that it had carried out an unusual military operation in the Crimean peninsula, during which the Ukrainian flag was symbolically raised.
Ukrainian special forces units arrived from the sea and landed west of the peninsula before departing “without losses,” according to Ukrainian military intelligence.
Russia announced on August 22 that it had “destroyed” a speedboat carrying Ukrainian soldiers near Snake Island, after claiming the same day that it had destroyed a reconnaissance ship.

Lula guarantees: Putin will not be arrested if he attends the G20 summit in Brazil in 2024
Russian President Vladimir Putin will not be detained if he participates in the next G20 summit, which will take place in Rio de Janeiro in 2024, his Brazilian counterpart, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, assured today.
Putin is the subject of an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant issued in March on suspicion of war crimes for the deportation of Ukrainian children.
Since then he has not traveled to all countries and has missed international meetings such as the G20 summit, which ended today in New Delhi, where he was represented by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Lula da Silva assured, in an interview with Indian television, that Putin will be invited to visit Rio de Janeiro.
“I can say that if I am president of Brazil and he comes to Brazil, there is no reason for him to be arrested,” said Lula, quoted by the French agency AFP.
