“The goodness of Portugal will never be forgotten.” It is one of the phrases highlighted in a video shared by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense on social network (the old Twitter), this Friday morning, to thank the Portuguese support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The video, more than a minute long, It begins with images of the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, during his trip to kyiv, saying “Slava Ukraini” (Glory to Ukraine, in Portuguese). Then, with the background sound of a Portuguese guitar, you can see various Portuguese monuments and landscapes, such as the Belém Tower and the Terreiro do Paço, as well as demonstrations against the Russian occupation of Ukraine.
In the images, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense recalls that Portugal was the “last country to join the coalition of [caças] F-16”, having also sent tanks and armored vehicles to assist the Ukrainian defense. The video ends with “thank you, Portugal.”
The video thanking Portugal is not the only one. On August 24, when Ukraine’s Independence Day was commemorated, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense had already published videos of gratitude to several countries, such as Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States, Luxembourg, Canada or France.
