The European Union regrets the increasing number of journalists killed in the line of duty

The EU High Representative for Foreign Policy deplored “the dramatic increase in the number of journalists killed or injured while reporting on the devastating consequences of the war.”

The head of diplomacy of the European Union (EU), Josep Borrell, regretted this Thursday, when announcing from World Day of Press Freedomthe “dramatically increasing number of journalists killed or wounded on duty,” particularly in wars.

In a statement, the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy deplored “the spectacular increase in the number of journalists killed or injured by reporting on the devastating consequences of war.”

Borrell also added that too many journalists have died in recent months covering the war in the Gaza Strip, adding to those also at risk in Ukraine, Myanmar and Sudan, among other countries.

The diplomat also said that this year, with elections in more than 60 countries around the world, the Factual and independent work of journalists. It is increasingly important.
