It is a public holiday in the United Kingdom. The birthday of Charles III is celebrated and the long-awaited return of the Princess of Wales to public life occurs. Kate announced that she would be attending the Trooping the Color parade this Saturday and, after being seen arriving by car at Buckingham Palace with her husband and children, took part in the royal carriage procession for a grand event throughout the morning .

In previous years we have seen the royal family make the trip in open carriages, but this year, perhaps due to the gray weather, both the kings and the Princess of Wales and their children travel in closed carriages. Charles and Camilla left Buckingham Palace first and Kate follows behind them with her three children, Princes George (10 years old), Charlotte (nine) and Louis (six). Earlier, the Duchess of Edinburgh, Sophie, and her daughter, Lady Louise, had already left.

The Princess of Wales wears a white Jenny Packham dress that she already wore at an event for the coronation of Charles III in 2023, but this time with a striped bow near the neckline. Kate also wears a two-tone Philip Treacey hat, like her dress, and the brooch of the Irish Guards, of which he is now a colonel, according to the Telegraph.

This Friday Kate surprised the public with a message on social networks accompanied by a photograph of her. The princess thanked her for her support, updated her health status and announced that she would return to public life at some events this summer, starting with the Trooping the Color parade.

The fact that the Princess of Wales made her long-awaited return to public life at the King’s birthday ceremony is significant. Following Kate’s announcement, Charles III let it be known that he was “delighted with the princess’s presence” and “really looking forward to seeing all the elements of the day.”

Throughout this year, the sovereign and his daughter-in-law have been going through similar health problems, with cancer diagnoses and respective treatments. This is one of the most important days in the annual calendar of the royal family and it is symbolic that both are great protagonists, after six challenging months. The King has already shown great affection for his daughter-in-law and knows her importance to the future of the royal house and Kate returns to public life at a celebration of Charles III.

It has been six months since the Princess of Wales was seen performing official acts in public. After attending Christmas mass with the royal family, she underwent abdominal surgery in January and was not seen for almost three months. On March 22 she shared a video on social media in which she announced that she would undergo preventive chemotherapy for a cancer diagnosis and would therefore remain out of the public eye.

“There are good days and bad days.” Kate updates her health status and confirms that she will participate in King Charles III’s birthday parade

The royal family is transported from Buckingham Palace in a carriage to the military parade and after returning to the palace where, at around 1:00 p.m., the royal family is expected to appear together on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, to greet people on the street and watch the usual aerial display of Royal Air Force (RAF) planes flying over the palace, leaving a trail of smoke in the colors of the British flag: blue, white and red.

On June 8 there was another military parade to which the Princess of Wales, colonel of the Irish Guards, was invited to review the troops, but Buckingham Palace announced that she would be replaced. Kate wrote a letter to the Irish Guards to apologize for not being present at the review and wish them good luck.

The King’s presence had already been announced at the end of May. His medical team has given their consent to be present at the event, but the inspection of the troops will take place in a horse-drawn carriage in which he must be accompanied by the queen. Last year the sovereign reviewed the troops on horseback and had the ambition to do the same this year.

Carlos III announced on February 5 that he had been diagnosed with cancer and that he would be absent from his public commitments to undergo chemotherapy treatments. The palace did not give further news about the treatments, but the King returned to public events at the end of last April and was recently at the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of D-Day, both in the United Kingdom and in northern France.

Kate Middleton: “I hope to represent you again very soon”

Trooping the Color is a military parade to celebrate the official birthday of the sovereign and tradition dictates that it be held on a day other than his birth and at a time of year when the weather is good (or, at least, there is a greater probability that this is the case) due to the events involved. During the reign of Elizabeth II this event took place on a Saturday in early June and during the reign of Charles III the tradition seemed to continue. In 2023 the party took place on June 17 and this year it takes place on June 15, although the King’s birthday is November 14.

This event has been celebrated for 260 years and is a parade in which around 1,450 officers and soldiers, 240 horses and 400 musicians from the armed forces participate. Traditionally, some members of the royal family with military rank participate in this parade. In 2023, the King himself participated on horseback, as did Prince William and Princess Anne.

Tradition dictates that this celebration is also a gathering of members of the royal family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. However, last year, only family members who actively work for the crown showed up to greet the crowds filling the street.
