In his initial intervention in the preparatory parliamentary debate of the European Council on Thursday and Friday, Luís Montenegro took the opportunity to answer a question from the Secretary General of the PCP, Paulo Raimundo, which had been left unanswered in the biweekly debate that preceded this one.

“The position of the Portuguese Government – ​​before this Government exercised its functions and now too – is to seek a two-state solution“he stated, recalling that, in May, Portugal voted in favor of admitting the Palestinian Authority as a full member of the United Nations.

The Prime Minister insisted that, regarding the recognition of the State of Palestine, Portugal “is participating in a broad dialogue within the European Union”.
