Several migrants on board a boat are in critical condition and two people are missing. The boat reportedly sank off the French coast.

At least 12 people have died after a boat carrying dozens of migrants sank in the English Channel. A French coast guard spokesman was quoted by Reuters as saying that several people were in critical condition. Emergency services were mobilised in large numbers from 11:30 a.m. local time.
In X, Gérald Darmanin, French Minister of the Interior, confirmed the occurrence of a shipwreck in Pas-de-Calais, off Wimereux. “The provisional toll is 12 dead, 2 missing and several injured. All government departments are mobilised to find the missing and assist the victims. I am on my way to meet with elected representatives and emergency services,” he said on social media.
