The PJ arrests a foreigner suspected of killing a man in France. They caught him because he was trying to regularize himself

A 34-year-old North African man was arrested after trying to regularize himself in AIMA. I was in Portugal for 10 months and worked in construction in Loures. French authorities were looking for him for murder.

The Judicial Police (PJ) arrested, early on Monday, a 34-year-old foreign citizen, suspected of murder in France and who was wanted by the authorities of that country. He was also the subject of a European arrest warrant.

According to a PJ statement released this Tuesday, the suspect, along with an accomplice, allegedly “murdered a man” using a knife. Subsequently, they allegedly abandoned the body “in a swamp in a town” in southern Corsica, which was discovered “by municipal employees.”

French authorities later discovered that the cause of the crime was “revenge,” following “attacks that had occurred” in the past. He was present this Tuesday at the Lisbon Court of Appeal to apply coercive measures and determine whether he will be extradited to France.

According to Jornal de Notícias, the suspect, 34 years old, is a North African who arrived in Portugal about ten months ago. He lived in the Loures neighborhood and had not only found work in construction, but had also started a romantic relationship with a woman, with whom he currently lived.

The same newspaper indicates that the Judicial Police managed to detect the whereabouts of the foreign citizen, when he was trying to regularize his situation in Portugal. The 34-year-old man went to the facilities of the Migration and Asylum Integration Agency (AIMA), delivering his documents, although he gave a false address.

After this attempt at regularization, the Judicial Police located the man and detained him on Monday. El Jornal de Notícias writes that he was detained at a construction site where he was working.
