The United States sends a letter to Israel and demands an improvement in the humanitarian situation in Gaza within 30 days or cuts military support.

The Biden administration is deeply concerned about the “deterioration of the humanitarian situation” and calls for “urgent and sustained action by the Israeli government” to “reverse this trajectory.”

It was a letter that was not supposed to be shared publicly, but it ended up being publicized. The United States sent a letter to the Israeli government on Sunday demanding that improve the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip in 30 days. Otherwise, Washington has promised to cut military support to its largest ally in the Middle East.

In the letter, signed by Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Antony Blinken, the Biden administration expresses deep concern about the “Deterioration of the humanitarian situation” and calls for “urgent and sustained action by the Israeli government” to “reverse this trajectory.”

The United States denounces, in the letter, the “overpopulation” of various parts of the Gaza Strip, which could cause the “spread of diseases.” And they directly criticize the actions of the Israeli government, especially the measures that restrict the entry of goods into the town.

The Americans remember that, in two other letters, warned Israel about the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. And they demand that Tel Aviv take fifteen measures.

Divided into three subchapters, the United States intends that, “before winter,” Israel meets the conditions for “humanitarian aid” to enter Gaza. To achieve this, Tel Aviv must allow “350 trucks per day” into the region and end “evacuation orders.”

In another subchapter, the United States demands that Israel “ensure that Jordanian Armed Forces trade corridors operate at full capacity”. At the same time, the Americans are calling on the Israelis to end the “isolation of northern Gaza.”

Additionally, the Biden administration reveals that it is concerned about the Israeli government’s actions in relation to the United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Middle East (UNRWA).

Hours after the letter was revealed by several American social media, the spokesperson for the United States Department of State, Matthew Miller, confirmed the information that the letter was indeed sent to Israel. The official emphasized that the letter was private and that the United States of America had no plans to reveal it. But he did not fail to emphasize that the United States “needs to see changes from the Israeli government.”
