The Israel Defense Forces identified, under a hospital in Beirut (the capital of Lebanon), more than 500 million dollars in cash and gold, property of the Shiite group Hezbollah.

At a press conference, IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari showed what Israel says was one of the bunkers used by the group’s former leader Hassan Nasrallah (located at the Sahel Hospital in southern Beirut) and in the which was said to store money and gold valued at more than half a billion dollars.

“The bunker was deliberately placed under a hospital.”Accused Hagari, quoted by Israel Timesadding that “this money could have been used to rehabilitate Lebanon, but it was used to rehabilitate Hezbollah.”

Israel declares Hezbollah’s financial entity a terrorist organization

Hagari’s statements come after a night of Israeli attacks on several financial institutions in Beirut. The IDF spokesperson assured that Israel will continue to attack Hezbollah’s infrastructure (i.e. financial institutions), which Tel Aviv believes are being used by Iran to transfer money to its Lebanese ally.
