In addition to the minutes and notices of the partial recount, carried out at the voting stations, and the same documentation carried out by the district commissions, the city of Maputo also wants to receive from other provinces.
The National Electoral Commission of Mozambique has eight days to send to the Constitutional Council the minutes and communications of the votes in Maputo and six provinces, in order to validate the electoral results of October 9, contested by the opposition.
The demand of the Constitutional Council (CC), which has jurisdiction over the electoral court in Mozambique, is contained in an order and a certificate dated this Wednesday, to which the Lusa agency had access.
In addition to the minutes and notices of the partial scrutiny, carried out at the voting stations, and the same documentation carried out by the district commissions, in the city of Maputo, the Constitutional Council wants to receive the same data about the provinces of Maputo, Gaza, Inhambane , Tete, Zambézia and Nampula.
Renamo says it will publish parallel counts and that it won in two provinces
The National Resistance of Mozambique (Renamo), the main opposition force, announced this Wednesday that it is preparing to make public the results of the parallel count of the general elections, in which it is declared the winner in two provinces.
“In the next few days the game Renamo will speak out and publish the results of its parallel recount about what the results of these elections are,” declared its representative, Geraldo Carvalho, at a press conference in Maputo.
The party leader said that, after the publication of the electoral results by the National Electoral Commission (CNE), which still require validation by the Constitutional Council (CC), the Renamo “kept calm” while working on parallel counting dataremembering that he is not “in favor of the results published” by official organizations.
“I would like to say that it seems that in two provinces towards Renamo has an advantage in the election of the provincial governor and the provincial assemblies“, declared Geraldo Carvalho, pointing out that the party is also waiting for the CC’s pronouncement.
“We hope that this time the Constitutional Council does its job correctly, remembering what its obligations are,” said the Renamo leader.
