German Chancellor Olaf Scholz fired Finance Minister Christian Linder this Wednesday, according to German press reports.
Christian Linder is also the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (FDP, for its acronym in German). The liberals are part of the coalition that governs Germany: between the social democrats (belonging to the family of European socialists) led by Olaf Scholz, the liberals and the Greens.
The resignation of Christian Linder could mean the end of this coalition and there could soon be early elections in Germany. The German press was already reporting that, in recent times, tension between the partners was reaching a point of no return.
