The Amadora-Sintra Hospital activates a contingency plan after the departure of 10 surgeons

The Local Health Unit (ULS) of Amadora-Sintra activated the General Surgery Contingency Plan to respond to the current situation of the teams with the departure of 10 surgeons, the institution informed Lusa this Wednesday.

According to the hospital, the plan was activated on Friday night, a day after 10 surgeons left the hospital. The plan was active between 8:00 p.m. on Friday and 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, a period during which the general surgery emergency service did not receive outpatients.

Since then it has not been necessary to activate the plan againstates an official source from the ULS Amadora-Sintra, explaining that the contingency levels will be activated based on the identified needs.

“The General Surgery Contingency Plan, prepared in July 2023, was adjusted by the service management, with validation from the clinical management, to respond to the current situation of the teams,” adds the ULS.

The ULS Amadora-Sintra reinforces that “resolution efforts are being carried out as quickly as possible, with the support of the military and the rest of the team.”

He adds that if necessary, the competent authorities will be informed, including the National Institute of Medical Emergencies (INEM).
