The Amsterdam International Documentary Film Festival (IDFA) has selected Lebanese filmmaker Hala El Koush to participate in the Project Space program, which aims to support artistic talent in the film world. Of the 260 projects, it was decided to support only 16 films for 2022, including Hala in The Place I Belong or The Place I Belong.

In this tape, after the explosion in the port of Beirut, Hala decides for the first time to walk alone through the streets of the Lebanese capital to get a treatment session so that the Beirut Corniche can affect his life. Thus, the young director conveys the pain of the Lebanese through this film with “different ways and modern style”, as he said.
Commenting on the experience, the director, who has a bachelor’s degree in film and television and a master’s degree in film directing from the Faculty of Fine Arts and Architecture of the Lebanese University, wrote in a statement on the latter’s website: “The journey of the five my years of life at Lebanese University will be unforgettable in my life. Our personality … the professors gave us the keys and guided us to the gates of success, but this success depends on perseverance and passion. ”
Al-Kush added: “The Lebanese University is preparing a person who is ready for the labor market, equipped with the necessary tools and equipment, and evidence that today the most successful people in the world of acting and directing are the ended it… ”.
Hala has previously participated in more than twenty international film festivals and received the Best Short Feature Film award at international festivals such as the European Film Festival, Beirut Greek Film Festival, Lebanese Film Festival in Canada and others.
