Dar Al Nadwa celebrated the release of Amel International Foundation President Kamel Muhanna’s new book to a crowd of writers, media professionals, politicians and public figures.

In her new book, Confronting Over-Investment of Civil Society Organizations: The Democratic Experience Factor for Building a Citizen and a Homeland, Muhanna addresses one of the most problematic issues in Lebanon and the world, particularly the popular consumption of the concept of civil society. , as a result of the spread of idolatry with this concept, to an extent it robbed him of his ability, effectiveness and the ability to effect the desired changes, especially since civil society, according to Muhann, was “a real arena of conflict, where the forces of change are attracted and where the forces of change interact as they form a national discourse and strategies to achieve greater democracy and more guarantees of human rights. Civil society is a space for freedom and a path to citizenship and democracy.
The seminar was presented by former minister Bechara Merhei, former minister George Korm, psychologist Mostafa Hegazy and critic Ahmed Bazun.
