The Mexican president is reinvigorating calls for a continental superstate that would unite North American employers and South American wages while pulling tens of millions of middle-class Americans into the background.
“I am going to visit in July. [President Joe Biden] “I want to discuss the unification of all of America in the White House and with him,” he said. He continued: “My position is that the way the European community was created… we should do it in America.”
However, any unification can take place only after the United States and the southern countries have resolved their differences: “There must be a change in policy, an end to conflict, an end to hostilities, an end to threats, blockade, foreign interference, and choose the policy of brotherhood and good friendship. ”
In 2001, President Bush Jr. pushed. and then Mexican President Vicente Fox, the same superpower on a continental scale. The unpopular “Any Worker Wants” scheme will allow US employers to easily import low-wage workers from Central and South America. It was damaged after the September 11 attacks.
This policy will increase the profits of Wall Street and the Fortune 500, providing them with a flood of cheap foreign labor as well as many new foreign buyers.
López Obrador’s statement has long had complaints about US policy and the alleged strength of anti-Hispanic Cuban voters in the US:
I have a very good relationship with President Biden, he is a good man. In this case, I feel a lot of pressure from Republicans and above all from some Republican Party leaders as well as the Democratic Party linked to Florida and the Cuban community in the United States. .
this
Certainly the most inhumane, anti-immigrant, authoritarian [politicians] They are republicans. But there are also those within the Democratic Party… [For example, Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J.] He’s from the Cuban community and that has a huge impact.
But if we stay [divided] such, depending on a gentleman’s decision, a gentleman’s influence, a gentleman’s wickedness, and if we forget our people, if we act in a sectarian way, we better trade with the pain of the people. Enjoys, thrives, enjoys political and economic benefits
López Obrador’s ambition is linked to the South American elite’s long-held dream of its own superstate in the southern hemisphere. The idea was presented by Simon Bolivar (1783-1830) in the early 1800s, but failed due to South America’s remoteness and diversity.
Lopez Obrador continues:
why don’t you bring [reality] Bolivar’s dream, along with the USA and Canada? This is good for us because of our cultural ties, friendships as well as economic and commercial ties. … We [
López Obrador and Biden] talk about it. I would also like to mention Central America, because it is impossible for us not to consider its causes. [the U.S. tries] Solve all immigration-related emergency measures. Regarding our sovereignty, other issues on which we can continue to cooperate within the framework of economic integration are complementing each other in the fight against inflation.
No, we will no longer be silent to the insults of immigrants and Mexicans. And I will push for immigration reform,” he said.
He accused the Republican Party and its anti-immigrant wing of political obstacles to greater union between the United States and South and Central America:
Now I’m talking about the attitude of the Republican Party that will definitely insist on this. [this week’s] Meeting [of the Americas] is failure. Yes, this may be a failure, but they are responsible for following a policy of proximity, not openness.
Like Bolivar, López Obrador argued that his policies should not be hindered by voters in democratic countries. “Such an option [continentall] transformation and you must dare it. And you don’t always have to think about the next election, you have to think about the next generation,” he said.
