The average gas price in one of California’s counties rose to $7.79.

The average gas price has soared to record highs in several California states where gas prices are the highest nationwide.

The national average gas price hit a record $5,014 on Monday, reflecting an increase of about 15 cents from the previous week and only 58 cents from the previous month.

Twenty-one states currently have an average statewide gas price of more than $5 per gallon. These are Maine, Vermont, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, Utah, Nevada, Arizona and California. second, it remains the highest state average in the country at $6,436 for regular gas.

But the situation is worse than it seems, with average prices exceeding $6 in some counties in these states.

For example, the median price in Washoe County, Nevada is $6,122, and some California counties have median prices that are above the astronomical state averages. These include Monterey ($6,600), San Mateo ($6,637), Sonoma ($6,613) and Humboldt ($6,825). But California’s Alpine County is currently the county with the highest average gasoline price, with $7 in excess of $7,799. Mono County ranks second with a median price of $7,234.

While Americans pointed to gas prices as a major issue ahead of the midterm elections, Biden administration officials did little to address the issues.

“You can thank what Vladimir Putin did for the invasion of Ukraine,” Energy Minister Jennifer Granholm told Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) last month after dealing with rising energy prices. Senate. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California).
