MEO, NOS and Vodafone have the highest number of Deco Protest complaints

Deco Protest revealed this Tuesday that it received more than 144,000 complaints in the first six months of this year and the telecommunications companies are in the lead.

MEO, NOS and Vodafone occupy the podium of national consumer complaints in the three Deco Protest channels (telephone, email and Claim Platform). The complaints focus on difficulties in changing service providers and problems with the internet, the organization explains in a statement. MEO ranks first with the highest number of complaints, 4,193, followed by NOS with 3,450 and then Vodafone with 1,792.

The consumer protection organization received a total of 144,452 complaints from Portuguese consumers in the first half of 2022 and the Electronic Communications, Consumer Goods and Financial Services sectors are at the top of the ranking of these complaints.

In the list of the 10 names with the highest number of complaints, CTT (with 1,014 complaints) continues to rank fourth, followed by Tap-Air Portugal (828), Medicare (749) and EDP Comercial (624). In Consumer Goods, Worten, FNAC and GTech are the most targeted names with complaints focused on the lack or delay in the delivery of goods, according to the organization.

Financial Services, meanwhile, are outside the top ten for consumer complaints, but according to Deco Proteste, Caixa Geral de Depósitos, Santander and Novo Banco are the leading names in this area. It is the banking commissions, the transparency of financial products and banking contracts that give rise to consumer complaints.

The Portuguese prefer to make their complaints by phone and, of the aforementioned total, 100,926 were made by this means, however the organization appeals first of all to the use of the Claim Platform, arguing that it is the most effective means to resolve these complaints. In this first semester, the platform mediated more than 3,135 cases.

At the end of last year, on the podium of companies with the most consumer complaints were TAP, Medicare and CTT.
