Al Ahly Jeddah were relegated to the Yellow League of first-class clubs after their showdown with Al Shabab ended in a goalless draw in the 30th and final round of the Mohammed bin Salman Professional League 2021-2022.

On this tour, Al Ahli needed to win or break a tie with a loss to one of their rivals Al Bateen and Al Ettifak to avoid relegation, but this did not happen for the team to be relegated to the first division.

From the beginning of the season the team went on a losing streak under the Albanian Besnik Hasi and the team was unable to rectify the situation despite the dismissal of the Albanian coach and the signing of the Romanian coach Robert Siboldi, as the team failed to win in the last 6 rounds of the last third of the league.

Since winning the league, the Copa del Rey and the Super Bowl in 2016, the club could not add a new championship to its record until it left the professional league for the first time in its history.

Notably, Al Ahli finished the season in 15th place with 32 points.
