Joe Says No: Biden White House Blocks New Drills in Atlantic and Pacific as Global Energy Demand Soars

US President Joe Biden has proposed blocking all new drilling activities in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans as the world wants more energy from far more resources than Russia, the Middle East and the OPEC oil cartel.

According to Breitbart News, Biden also aims to end oil and gas exploration and production on federal land, recognizing the importance of fossil fuels in the US energy field.

The plan, announced Friday, shows the White House is not offering rental sales for more than 10 potential rental sales in the Gulf of Mexico, a potential rental sale option in Alaska of the North Cook Inlet, and Atlantic or Pacific planning. Counties for the period 2023-2028

The UPI said it has not made a final decision on which sales to include, but any area or sale not included in the proposal will be banned for five years.

At the legislative session earlier this year, Democrats urged Biden to do more to stop offshore drilling in the Gulf of Mexico.

The announcement follows his administration’s crackdown on a campaign pledge to ban new oil and gas leases from public lands and waters in November by approving new oil drilling leases on 1.7 million acres of federal land in the Gulf of Mexico.

The Biden administration has also come under pressure from Republican-leaning states, including 14 states that have sued his administration for suspending leases for new oil and gas wells on federal land that are said to have soared energy costs. According to the UPI report.

The White House suspended oil and gas leases in February amid a feud with Republican states over the use of the carbon cost measure that increases the damage to emissions, but restarted it a few months ago under pressure to cut energy costs.
