The Ukrainian Foreign Minister called, this Tuesday, for a “cool head” regarding the review of the Russian nuclear doctrine, which expands the possibility of using atomic weapons, considering that it is blackmail.
“His revised nuclear doctrine and rhetoric on the use of nuclear weapons are nothing more than blackmail”said Andrii Sybiga before a committee of the United States Congress, leaving an appeal: “We must keep a cool head, clear ideas and not give in to fear.”
The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, signed this Tuesday the Decree that expands the possibility of using nuclear weaponsafter the United States authorized kyiv to attack Russian soil with long-range missiles supplied by Washington.
The amendment to the nuclear weapons decree followed Washington’s announcement that it authorized Ukraine to use long-range US missiles on Russian soil.
During a press conference, a Pentagon spokeswoman stated that the review of Russian nuclear doctrine, announced this Tuesday by the Kremlin, “is not surprising.”
“This is something we continue to monitor, but there is no indication that Russia is preparing to use a nuclear weapon in Ukraine,” Sabrina Singh said. “This is the same irresponsible rhetoric that we have seen before and that, frankly, we have seen in the last two years,” he added.
