The Austrian consortium OMV, the largest gas group in Central Europe, confirmed that the supply of Russian gas increased this Thursday after of the reactivation of the flow in the Nord Stream I gas pipelinein the volumes that had been announced the day before.
A spokesman for the OMV told the Austrian agency APA that Gazprom “is fulfilling its promise of yesterday”, Wednesday, by delivering what it had announced, that is, the same amount that arrived before the interruption of the flow in this pipeline, for 10 days, to perform maintenance work.
Berlin is confident that Gazprom will “fulfill contractual obligations”
In that period, OMV received from other gas pipelines only a third of the daily total contracted with the Russian Federation, which has now risen to 50%the same as before July 11.
In mid-June, Gazprom halved the amount of gas supplied through Nord Stream I, allegedly due to a technical problem.
Austria is one of the European states that most depends on the Russian Federation to cover its energy needs, buying 80% of the gas it imports from Gazprom.
