Fuels in Azores fall 2.3 cents after the reduction of the Tax on Petroleum Products

The price of gasoline and diesel in the Azores fell 2.3 cents per liter on Monday, after the reduction of the Tax on Petroleum Products (IPS), according to an order published this Friday in the Official Gazette.

“The recent variations in the international market in the reference prices of oil and energy products justify an adjustment in the maximum retail price (PMVP) of IO 95 gasoline, diesel for road use and fuels,” the order said. which sets the maximum retail prices for fuels in the Azores, published in the Official Gazette and which enters into force on August 1.

The price of 95-octane unleaded gasoline fell from 1,912 euros to 1,889, while the price of diesel fell from 1,768 euros to 1,745.

The 2.3 cent drop was due to a change in the ISP, which dropped nine cents for gasoline and 11.3 cents for diesel.

ISP now charges 36.6 cents per liter for gasoline and 14.2 cents per liter for diesel.

Given the current situation of increase in the average price of fuels, explained by the persistence of the set of exogenous factors that originated it, namely, the imbalance in terms of supply and demand in international markets, it is necessary to carry out a new reduction of the extraordinary unit rates of the ISP applicable, in the Autonomous Region of the Azores, to unleaded gasoline and diesel for road use”, justifies the Azorean executive, in a resolution of the Governing Council, published today in the Official Gazette.

The price of colored diesel for agriculture and fishing is also reduced by 2.3 cents per liter, as defined in another order.

Colored and marked diesel consumed in agriculture went from 1,286 to 1,263 euros, while colored and marked diesel consumed in deep-sea fishing went from 1,096 to 1,073.

Fuel oil with a sulfur content less than or equal to 1%, when destined for other consumption, supplied in bulk at the facilities of the distribution companies on each island, it costs 0.787 euros per kilogram4.1 cents less than in the previous month (0.828 euros).

Fuel oil for the production of electricity, supplied in bulk at the facilities of the distribution companies on each island, is reduced on the island of São Miguel from 823.05 to 780.88 euros/MT and on Terceira from 851.99 at 809.82 euros/MT.

In Pico it falls from 983.96 to 968.20 euros/MT and in Faial from 969.87 to 954.11 euros/MT.

The price of butane gas sold bottled, piped or in bulk does not vary, ranging between €1,348 per kilogram (in bulk) and €1,618 per kilogram (24-litre bottle, made of light materials, for sale to the public, at the point of consumption).

The maximum prices of oil and energy products in the Azores are “modified on the 1st of each month and in amounts equivalent to the variation of the monthly Europe Price (PE).”

In November 2021, the Regional Government of the Azores “proceeded to the ISP reduction by four centsin gasoline 95, and in two cents, in diesel for road use”.

Between April 18 and 30, it granted “an additional support of 11 cents”, to “mitigate the impact of the increase in fuel prices in the European market”.

At the end of April, the Azorean government applied a additional ISP reduction by 11 cents“given the ongoing geopolitical and military conflict in Ukraine, as well as its impact on rising commodity prices, especially oil and its derivatives.”
