Strike notices rise nearly 80% through July to 666

Strike notices communicated to the Ministry of Labor increased by 79.5% from January to July compared to the same period in 2021, totaling 666, according to data from the General Directorate of Employment and Labor Relations (DGERT).

Data published by the DGERT, which refer to strike notices communicated under the Labor Code, show that, of the 666 delivered between January and July, 572 occurred in the private sector and 94 in the state business sector.

The data corresponds to the notices communicated, but may not correspond to the strikes actually carried out, some of which may have been suspended.

Taking into account only the month of July, 34 strike notices were reported, compared to 63 in the same month of 2021.

The number of notices in July (34) still compares with the 180 registered the previous month.

In July, all strike notices occurred outside the state business sector, most in the transport and storage sector, and minimum services were decreed in 31% of cases.
