The General Directorate of Budgets makes public this Friday the summary of budget execution until October, after the State has registered a surplus of 5,253 million euros until September, in public accounting, an improvement of 9,945 million euros.

“In public accounting, the Public Administrations registered a budget surplus of 5,253 million euros until September 2022”, reads a statement from the Ministry of Finance, on October 27, and which preceded the publication of the budget execution summary by of the Directorate of General Budgets (DGO).

The surplus reflects an improvement in the balance of 2,711 million euros compared to 2019, the last period prior to the pandemic, and 9,945 million euros compared to the first nine months of 2021.

According to the executive, this improvement translated into an increase in revenue of 15.5% compared to 2021 and 14.9% compared to 2019, which is justified by “labor market dynamismthe economy and the effect of rising prices”.

On the other hand, it reflected an increase in spending of 0.3% compared to 2021, influenced by the reduction in expenses associated with the Covid-19 pandemic.

Primary spending increased by 1%, but without the effect of the Covid-19 measurespresents an interannual increase of 3.4%, while current spending grew by 4.3%.

Compared to the same period in 2019, primary spending grew by 11.2%.

“The positive evolution of the budget execution in the first nine months of the year made it possible to prefinance the Familias Primero program and the Energia para Avançar program, announced in September and largely implemented in October. Spending on these programs will only be reflected from the October budget execution, which foresees a deterioration of the budget balance in the next month,” said the ministry in charge of Fernando Medina.
