Carlos Guimarães Pinto says that he spent the weekend of the Liberal Initiative convention “with his daughter and away from television” because he chose “to stay away from internal politics,” after having “also distanced himself from some people for personal attacks“.
The former president of Iniciativa Liberal rules out a scenario of party disintegration and says that many of the internal changes after the change of leadership were already planned before the electoral period. Maintaining the unifying position, Guimarães Pinto says that “it would be a shame for the party to lose” those who were defeated in the elections.
With the departure of Pedro Nuno Santos, the IL deputy says that the now ex-minister “was never very competent” and that João Galamba “does not reveal a better profile.” “They are, in fact, very identical,” he adds, considering the injection of money into TAP as “one of the worst mistakes of this government.”
