The PSD parliamentary group requested this Friday, as a matter of urgency, the holding of a parliamentary hearing to the RTP Editorial Office, on the suspension of the journalist Hugo Cadete from the public station.
In the note sent to the Parliamentary Commission for Culture, Communication, Youth and Sports, to which the Lusa news agency had access, the parliamentary group of social democrats points out that the RTP journalist was suspended on October 19 and who, two months later, on December 21, received a “guilty note justifying his preventive suspension.”
According to the PSD, in this document Hugo Cadete is accused of having “stared” at his superiorHélder Silva, when they were both in the company parking lot, an attitude that the RTP Information Department described as “provocative, hostile, intimidating, threatening and aggressive”.
“On April 16 it was made public that the RTP Newsroom, after analyzing the disciplinary process initiated against the journalist Hugo Cadete, defends, in an opinion signed by the elected members of this body, the complete file of the process followed against Hugo Cadete and their immediate reinstatement”, the Social Democratic parliamentary group also highlights in the request sent to the president of the Parliamentary Committee for Culture, Communication, Youth and Sports.
Social Democratic deputies Alexandre Poço, Carla Madureira and Fernanda Vélez urgently request a parliamentary hearing to the RTP Newsroom “In view of the opposition generated around this process, which in no way dignifies the public broadcaster” and “because it is important, above all, to properly clarify the contours of this case.”
