“I am amazed at the position of the President of the Government, because it is also incongruous and has no support,” Montenegro told reporters this Saturday, in reaction to Costa’s statements the day before. The President of the Government was uncomfortable with the fact that the TAP parliamentary investigation commission had “evolved in what it analyzes”, when it was created “with a very specific objective, which was to analyze the public management of TAP between 2020 and 2022”. . Specifically, Costa said that he did not understand Galamba’s connection to this matter and why he was called to the commission.

The leader of the Social Democrats reacted to the statements by the head of government, noting that Costa apologized for the situation that occurred in the Ministry of João Galamba. “Now, if the situation is serious and if the prime minister needed to apologize, why should the commission, whose purpose is to evaluate the political protection of TAP, not cover this episode that happened in the Ministry of Infrastructure and that has everything to do with it? with the political management that the Government had in TAP?
For Montenegro, this means that either Costa’s apology was not genuine – “he was just leaving some crocodile tears” – or the prime minister must be “consistent”. “The Doctor. What is António Costa afraid of? What do you want to hide from the Portuguese?” he asked.
João Galamba’s hearing in the parliamentary commission of inquiry is scheduled for next Thursday, one day after the hearings of his chief of staff and former deputy, Frederico Pinheiro, who were at the center of events at the Ministry of Infrastructure.
