PRR: Rescheduling presented this week and loans could reach 11,000 million euros

The reprogramming of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) will be presented this week and the Government keeps open the possibility of mobilizing loans up to a maximum limit of 11,000 million euros, he added, in response to Lusa.

“The Portuguese Government will present this week the PRR reprogramming project, which contains the number of additional loans regarding both the new measures that were in public consultation in April, as well as the adequacy of projects and investments to the increase in prices derived from inflation and the war situation in Europe”, advanced, in response to Lusa, the Ministry of The presidency.

According to the Government, Portugal told the European Commission that “keeps open the possibility of mobilization” the maximum loan limit, which corresponds to 11,000 million euros.

The loan term ends on August 31.

On Wednesday, the European Commission said that Portugal had expressed its intention to request 3.3 billion euros in additional loans under the PRR, asking the country to “nip” in the implementation.

“It is important to accelerate the implementation [do PRR]including the RepowerEU measures, also in a context where Portugal requested €3.3 billion in additional loans“, declared the executive vice-president of the European Commission with the portfolio of ‘An economy at the service of the people’, Valdis Dombrovskis.

A European source explained, at the time, to the Lusa agency that, within the framework of the PRR, Portugal expressed “the intention of requesting additional loans, in a range between 3,300 million euros and 11,000 million euros”, when reviewing the plan and the inclusion of measures relating to the RepowerEU energy package.

Another source said that the country would most likely opt for the 3.3 billion euros, although the exact amount of the additional loans will only be known through an official presentation to the European Commission.

The public consultation on the proposal to increase the budget of almost 2,400 million of the PRR received 150 contributionsbeing the areas of energy and transport/mobility the ones that concentrate most of them.

The beneficiaries of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) received 1,847 million euros until May 17, 21,000 more than the previous week, which corresponds to 11% of the total, according to the latest monitoring report.
