The Federation of Public Administration Unions (Fesap) will propose to the Government an increase in basic remuneration to 850 euros in 2024 and a minimum update of 80 euros for all workers.
The proposal was presented today by the general secretary of Fesap, José Abraão, at a press conference, after the meeting of the national secretariat of the union structure, in Lisbon.
“Taking into account that the remuneration base has been detached from the minimum wage, we understand that the remuneration base in the public administration must increase, at least, to 850 euros, which represents an increase that takes into account, not only inflation, the improvement of salaries, recovery of purchasing power,” announced the leader of Fesap.
The salary base of the public administration is currently 769.20 euros, higher than the national minimum wage (760 euros).
José Abraão added that Fesap also requires a 6% salary update for all workers with a minimum of 80 euros per employee.
The Fesap salary update proposal is higher than the value provided for in the agreement signed in October with the Government for the legislature, which provides for an increase of 52.11 euros per year until 2026.
According to José Abraão, the proposal aims to guarantee that the value of salary updates is higher than the forecasts that have been made for inflation, so that next year “can be a year of recovery of purchasing power.”
Fesap also demands that the food subsidy be increased to 7.50 euros.
The general secretary of Fesap rejected the idea that the proposal is a sign that it is necessary to review the agreement signed with the Government in October.
“We respect the agreement we signed,” highlighted José Abraão, pointing out that the document provides for minimum update values that must take into account changes in conditions, in particular inflation, to “stop the loss of purchasing power.”
The Fesap proposal must be discussed with the Government in the usual negotiations within the framework of the State Budget proposal for 2024 (OE2024), with no date yet set.
The OE2024 proposal should be delivered to parliament on October 10.
