AL and DI explain how to save money at the supermarket

“What am I going to make for dinner today?”; “I think I’m forgetting something”; “Is there still rice at home?” These are some of the things that go through our heads when we walk down the aisles of the supermarket. But who has never gone “alone” to buy bread and ended up bringing two bags of groceries?

Thinking about consumers, ALDI recently presented AL and DI, two best friends who, from now on, are the new ambassadors of the brand and come to demonstrate to Portuguese families that going to the supermarket does not have to be complex or expensive. and yes. We focus on the essentials, we can quickly find products with an excellent quality-price ratio.

For those who don’t know them yet, despite their similar appearance, AL and DI have distinct personalities that complement each other perfectly. Always in a good mood and fun, AL is energetic, curious and a true foodie. She is fascinated by everything around her in the world: the people in the supermarket, the bananas, the cookies, the tomatoes, the cheese, everything! But deep down, what AL really likes is making human life simpler and easier by showcasing the best that ALDI has to offer.

But when it comes to simplicity, DI is truly the guru of simplification, guaranteed to have solutions for everything from breakfast to the best gardening options. We have already heard him say that he is “the MacGyver of supermarkets.” Additionally, you are always very organized and always want to plan everything as best as possible, including weekly shopping and savings.

NOTE: Tell us, AL and DI. What would you say to consumers to make their choice in the supermarket easier?

GAVE: A first essential tip is to buy fruits and vegetables in the right season. They tend to be fresher and also cheaper. And, whenever possible, opt for local products! Did you know that at ALDI 90% of fruits and vegetables come from national suppliers?

Alabama: It’s true, some even know how to sing the anthem… But you forgot the most important thing, SAY: never forget to buy bananas and cheese!

GAVE: You’re the king of cheese, aren’t you?

Alabama:No! Do you know who the Cheese King is?

GAVE: WHO?

Alabama: It’s the King of Cheese! Ah ah ah ah!

NOTE: You guys are a comedy, together! But today we already learned something: we didn’t know that almost all of ALDI’s fresh products come from Portuguese suppliers… it’s actually a good way to support local communities. And recently, in addition to this freshness, we were also told that ALDI was a great bet for the Portuguese wallet. Do you want to explain it to us a little better?

GAVE: Clear! Whether it’s buying a cart full of cheese, as AL likes so much! – or do your monthly shopping, ALDI is the ideal supermarket to save, because it has products at unbeatable prices. We investigated with our sources (cough, cough) and shopping at ALDI can save an average of more than 600 euros per year. In practice, it is like saving almost 52 euros per month, or 12 euros per week. And 600 euros are enough to pay for an end-of-year vacation…!

Alabama:Do you know where dad is going on vacation?

GAVE: Go… Say it!

Alabama: Papaya goes on vacation Papaia! Did you understand?

GAVE: Got it, lol! And since you’re talking about the beach, AL, I’d like to take this opportunity to reveal to you that ALDI’s summer specials are mind-blowing. There are electric grills, portable washing machines… and even inflatable pools!

Alabama: It’s true! ALDI has it all… and always at low prices!

NOTE: And in addition to the summer opportunities, it is possible to find other types of items throughout the year, right?

GAVE: Or more! Gardening supplies, decoration, furniture, children’s games… at unbelievable prices…

Alabama: Do you know what a deaf vegetable does?

GAVE: Oh AL, but now we are talking about the ALDI bazaar.

Alabama: Don’t complicate things. Do you know that or not?

GAVE: There… say it…

Alabama: A deaf vegetable… pretends to be cabbage.

GAVE: Eheheh, this one turns out to be good!

NOTE: You did it right again, AL, readers will like this one! Lastly, we have a quick challenge for you: what would be your checklist for planning a shopping trip to ALDI?

GAVE: I am an expert in this area! Trust me! So…

  1. First, install the ALDI App to discover all the deals of the week and find the nearest ALDI store.
  2. Next, make a list of what is missing at home and use the shopping lists in the ALDI app. They make everything easier…!
  3. Then, start shopping in the non-perishable product sections, leaving frozen products for last, so that they do not remain in the cold for too long. In this last section you can’t miss the Mucci® ice cream or the Tesouros do Mar® shrimp, which work wonders this summer and may even be on sale. Or be the perfect companion for watching national team games. I even rhymed!
  4. Definitely don’t shop when you’re hungry, as we know you always end up buying more than you need and forgetting what’s essential.
  5. Finally, stop by the bakery and pastry area and take home some rustic balls or croquettes… There is nothing like freshly baked bread or a snack fresh from the oven… Wonderful!

GAVE: And that is! If shopping is easier, life is less complicated, right AL?

Alabama: Can you believe it! And with a less complicated life, we have more time and more money in our pockets to enjoy the good things…

GAVE: Even though humans make things complicated, we are here to help you… You will see that saving is very simple, and that going to ALDI makes all the difference. Thanks for the invitation, observer!

These are AL and DI’s tips, and if you want to keep following them, check out ALDI on Instagram, on aldi.pt and pay attention to the weekly flyers and TV ads. They’re out there!
