China highlights economic complementarity and strategic alignment with Brazil

The head of Chinese diplomacy defended in a meeting with a representative of the Brazilian presidency that the economies of the two countries are “highly complementary, with aligned development strategies,” says a statement released this Friday by Beijing.

In a meeting held this Thursday in the Chinese capital with a high-level delegation from Brazil, led by the Brazilian presidential chief of staff, Rui Costa, the Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wang Yi, highlighted the importance of comprehensive strategic cooperation between both countries.

The two nations maintain close relations promoted by the BRICS group – founded by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa – which since 2009 has advocated for greater representation of emerging and developing countries in international organizations.
