Portugal will request “still in October” the sixth disbursement of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), Prime Minister Luís Montenegro announced this Tuesday.
During the recess of the meeting of the Territorial Coordination Council (CCT), in Faro, Montenegro said that this was “a balance in the field of implementation of both Portugal 2030 and the PRR”.
“Since we took office, we have already unlocked access to the ‘section’ that was missing within the scope of the third and fourth disbursements of the PRR, we have formulated the request for the fifth and it is our intention, during the month of October, to send the request for the sixth disbursement,” he said, flanked by the Vice Minister and Territorial Cohesion, Manuel Castro Almeida.
Portugal has already received the first four tranches of the PRR, equivalent to 38% of the planned allocation, for a total of 7 billion euros.
In July, the fifth payment request, worth 2.9 billion euros, was submitted to Brussels.
This request requires the fulfillment of 27 milestones and 17 goals and the amount to be received is the largest to date.
Until September 24, Portugal occupied eleventh position (38%) among euro zone countries in terms of funds received, with France standing out with 77%.
In terms of milestones and objectives, Portugal is in 16th place (23%), with France again in the lead, with 73%.
With the approval of the fifth tranche, these percentages rise to 32% in the case of milestones and objectives and 51% in terms of funds received.
The PRR, which has an execution period until 2026, aims to implement a set of reforms and investments with a view to recovering economic growth.
In addition to aiming to repair the damage caused by covid-19, this plan aims to support investments and generate employment.
