More than 130 hamsters have been loose since Wednesday in the hold of a TAP plane. Since then, the Airbus A321neo has been detained at Ponta Delgada airport, in the Azores, and is prevented from returning to Lisbon for security reasons. According to Portal Aviação TV, this Saturday there are only 16 rodents loose.
It was on Wednesday when, after making the trip from the capital to Ponta Delgada, the baggage collection teams of the Airbus A321neo verified that the transporters where the animals were traveling were damaged and that the rodents had escaped. The 132 hamsters were part of an order intended for a pet store that also included ferrets and birds.
“Maintenance teams on the ground attempted to recapture all the animals for four days, which prevented the plane from returning to Lisbon for safety reasons. On Saturday, 16 of these rodents were still loose inside the Airbus 321,” reads the Aviação TV post on Facebook.
According to Correio da Manhã, before boarding the Airbus A321neo, the order had already been prevented from boarding another flight with the justification that the carriers were not in a position to do so.
