Deputies from the Left Bloc, Livre and PAN asked the Technical Budget Support Unit this Monday to evaluate the budgetary impact of the reduction of VAT on bullfighting from 23 to 6%, as the PSD and CDS benches intend.
“Specifically and without prejudice to other aspects, this study aims to know the tax revenue generated by bullfighting activity in the last three years and the potential annual tax expense that could occur if this VAT reduction is approved,” can be read in the request to which the Observer had access.
In addition, the three parties also want to know UTAO’s position on whether this proposal “conforms” to the provisions of the directive approved in Brussels “relative to the common system of Value Added Tax.”
Let us remember that Inês Sousa Real had already announced that the PAN would present a complaint to the VAT Committee of the European Union to evaluate the “legitimacy” of Portugal in reducing the bullfighting tax.
