Gwyneth Paltrow: $75 vagina scented candles a ‘provocation’ to say how ‘wonderful’ it is to be a woman

In an interview broadcast on NBC’s Today on Sunday, actress and Goop CEO Gwyneth Paltrow advertised her best-selling vagina scented candle, titled “This Smells Like My Vagina.”

The candle that emerged in 2020 is a “feminist statement” aimed at revealing the “shame” surrounding “women’s intimacy”.

At her New York store, Paltrow told NBC’s Willie Geist that the candle was a “provocation” to say how “amazing” it was to be a woman.

“I smell my scent” – can I say that on the morning TV? This candle really looks like a provocation to say, “Being a woman is wonderful in every way.” It’s great to have that kind of power, and you deserve that kind of free will.” So it’s a fun and powerful way to be funny and provocative,” Paltrow said of the $75 candle.

Paltrow’s signature fragrance product allegedly exploded at a customer’s home, leading to a lawsuit.

Some of Paltrow’s other controversial candle scents include the American Civil Liberties Union-sponsored “Hands Off My Vagina” abortion rights candle, “This Smells Like My Marriage Agreement” and “This Smells Like My Orgasm.”

As the actress announced her abortion rights candle in January, “I think we at Goop are very pro-women, frankly, and we truly believe that women should be free to make the choices they want. They want to make it with their lives.” We were thrilled to be able to work with the ACLU and be able to do that.”
