Fact Check: Whoopi Goldberg Falsely Claims Turning Point Was ‘Accepted’ by US Neo-Nazis

CLAIM: Whoopi Goldberg told ABC on Monday Look which is recognized by Turning Point USA (TPUSA).[d]At a student action summit in Tampa, Florida, last weekend, neo-Nazis and protesters with swastikas and SS flags were “in the crowd” at the event.

“Hug yourself [neo-Nazis] in your case,” Goldberg said of TPUSA, “I know they’re not in the building, but they’re among those present at the event.”

DECISION: FALSE. Turning Point USA did not welcome a group of people standing outside the event with swastikas and SS flags on Saturday afternoon. Protesters dressed as neo-Nazis also “did not mix” with those attending the event. The protesters got the same reaction as the abortion protesters an hour before event attendees: they were ostracized and faced backlash.

And that wasn’t Goldberg’s only misrepresentation on Monday. Look. The broadcaster falsely claimed that TPUSA allowed protesters dressed as neo-Nazis to attend the event.

“You let them in and you know who they are, so you’re in,” Goldberg said.

After being forced to retract his live commentary, Goldberg doubled down on his original proposal by falsely claiming that a conservative student organization was hosting protesters at the event.

“Let me explain a little bit about the neo-Nazis at the Turning Point event,” he said. “It was the protesters outside. My view is more metaphorical. Bring them for your business. So they’re not in the building.”

Turning Point USA responded to Goldberg’s false allegation by sending a letter to ABC News on Tuesday demanding that the “insulting statements” be withdrawn by the United States. Look Fox News Digital reports about the TPUSA Student Action Summit, or one hundred attempts.

The organization also stated on Twitter that “a group of antifa and leftist protesters showed up to protest our event, dispersed, and a few minutes later these ‘Nazis’ showed up”.

“Who are these people? We have no idea and frankly ABC and other media outlets don’t know enough to know,” TPUSA added.

The identity of the protesters, who wore neo-Nazi garb, remains unknown, as most of their faces are completely hidden.

This reporter witnessed a dozen protesters arrive, waving SS flags and swastikas, at a restaurant across the street from the incident. Like Antifa, the protesters were dressed in all black, wearing black ski masks and sunglasses, their faces almost impossible to recognize.

“We have no idea who they are or why they’re at the convention center,” TPUSA said. Said. Declaration. TPUSA has nothing to do with our event or our students.

“Our students who first encountered them eventually chose a mature path and liberated the space. As soon as that happened, these people left,” he said.

Goldberg’s false “neo-Nazi” statements about Turning Point USA came after he was suspended from ABC earlier this year after comments he made about the Holocaust. Look the host falsely claimed that the extermination of six million Jews had nothing to do with race.
