Some 75 years ago, Queen Elizabeth II married Prince Philip, with exciting details and Britain’s longest royal marriage, so what are the season highlights of their love story?
In 1934 and 1937, Queen Elizabeth met Prince Philip, son of Danish-Greek Prince Andrew and Princess Alice, and they were related to Queen Victoria.

After their second meeting at the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, she admitted that she had fallen in love with him, when she was still 13 years old, and they began exchanging romantic letters, and their engagement was officially announced on July 9, 1947.
Their engagement met with opposition from his family, as Prince Philip was in dire financial straits, having been born in Britain, as well as Prince Philip’s sisters being married to German noblemen with links to the Nazis.
However, the queen’s great love for the prince and her attachment to him led to the family’s final approval, and Prince Philip at that time renounced his royal titles and switched from the Greek Orthodox Church to the Evangelical Church.
Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip got married and only 150 guests were invited.
