Psychiatrist Pavel Gavnerov said that focusing on breathing helps to quickly relieve anxiety and nervous tension.
In a press interview, the specialist added that he found two ways to combat anxiety: short -term, aimed at relieving anxiety when it occurs. and in the long run, associated with change in perception and understanding of stressful events in general.
As for the first method, when anxiety is detected at the most inappropriate moment, it can be quickly reduced with the help of special techniques, among which is the regulation of breathing. In this case, the expert advises that when a panic attack occurs, you should focus all your attention on your breathing, and after inhalation, try to gradually relax while you breathe. It is best to do breathing exercises regularly, so that you can easily focus on your breathing at the critical moment.
The second method, and less effective, is to deprive oneself of critical moments.
The expert said that if an event has caused concern to a person, it means that it has special importance to him.
In such cases, the psychiatrist advises to divert attention to something pleasant, but not so important for this person. For example, you can call a loved one or interrupt yourself with a pleasant letter on a social network.
If a person feels increased anxiety, for example, on public transport or at school, he or she should use one of the above methods to calm down quickly.
