The second semi-final was played, like the first, in the inside PalaOlimpico, in Turin (Italy), and was broadcast live on the official Eurovision channel on YouTube. In Portugal, it was broadcast on delayed television starting at 9:47 p.m. on RTP1, having also been broadcast on RTP Internacional, RTP Africa, RTP Internacional Asia and RTP Internacional América.

The representatives of France, Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom and Italy already had, at the beginning of this edition, the confirmation of direct classification to the final, since they have automatic passage to form the group called “big five” – and Italy remain hosts this year for Måneskin’s victory in 2021, which would also earn them a direct ticket to the last phase.
