Super Bock Super Rock has long been rock in name only. Recent editions of the festival have focused on other musical genres, especially hip-hop and trap, to the dismay of rock fans, who fondly remember the days when the lineup was “heavy.” This Saturday night, the event was again a “little” rock, with the explosive concert of the foals. The formation of the British band, known for songs that usually sound on the radio, surprised: after a first part dedicated to more commercial themes, the Foals turned around and offered a dose of pure rock. There was hitting the handa circular well (I envy you, DaBaby) and zero hassles.
The Foals went up to the main stage of Super Bock Super Rock at 10:35 p.m., after Capitão Fausto, who offered a special concert with maestro Martin Sousa Tavares and a small orchestra. It was a sudden change in the sound of the Altice Arena: from the light and singable rock of the band from Lisbon to the sonic explosion of the British. The dance-rock band opened with “Wake Me Up,” the track from their latest album of originals, life is yours (2022), which has appeared first on the bill of recent concerts. “Mountain at My Gates” followed, a journey back in time to the fifth album, what happened (2015), and “Runner”, more recently, from 2019.
