Open House returns to Porto, Matosinhos, Gaia and Maia with 34 premieres

Among the 34 premiere architectural spaces that can be visited during the two days, free of charge, the curators highlighted the Leça River Corridor and the Ponte Moreira Park and the Lugar do Outeiro Social Housing (Maia), the As Sete Bicas Cooperative Azenha de Cima and the Monastery and Open Sculpture of Leça do Balio (Matosinhos).

In Porto, where there will be 31 spaces to visit, 14 of which are premieres, the highlights of the curators were, for example, the Ventura Terra University Residence, the Massarelos Housing Cooperative, the Monte da Bela neighborhood, the Healthy Corridor of Campanhã or the Álvaro Siza wing of the Serralves Museum.

In Vila Nova de Gaia there will be 12 visitable spaces and seven premieres are planned, including the Castelo de Gaia Public Laundry, the RTP Studios, Vila D’Este or Orla Marítima/Ribeiras de Gaia.

In this 9th edition, three types of visits are planned: Free visits, accompanied visits with more than 300 volunteers and visits in which 50 specialists (including architects, historians and teachers) will be able to explain the building both externally and internally. for visitors.

“65 spaces were selected to transmit to the people the value of local power, chosen by citizens, where each one can intervene in their territory,” unlike what happened during the time of the Estado Novo, said curator Teresa Novais.

Since its inaugural edition in 2015, Open House Porto has registered “more than 180 thousand visits,” the press dossier states.
