Although 330 officials have expressed interest in the Program of Incentives for the Settlement of State Workers in the Interior, until mid-May only ten had been established in municipalities in that region of the country, reported Público on Tuesday.
An official source from the Secretary of State for Internal Management told the newspaper that, of the ten workers who relocated, the majority (eight) were telecommuters. Three of them are working in teleworking centers created by the municipalities and five outside these localities. The rest were subject to mobility.
The Incentive Program for the Settlement of State Workers in the Interior was created in July 2020 to promote the settlement of public servants integrated into general careers (senior technicians, operational assistants and technicians) in less populated regions.
To convince workers to join the program, the Government established a daily cash incentive of 4.77 euros, for a maximum of three years, not cumulative with other allowances. Workers who travel to any of the 88 municipalities contemplated, in a teleworking or mobility regime, may also have the right to two additional days of vacation, five days off to settle, guarantee of school transfer for their children or 11 consecutive days of vacation . with the spouse, explains Public.
According to the official source of the Secretary of State for Internal Management, the Government undertook from the outset to guarantee “conditions and conditions to encourage adherence to this program.” The meager results “encourage analysis, reflection and definition of measures to be adopted in the future”, he admitted.
